How did you come up with the idea of Auotyaar?

Most of us have found ourselves in tricky vehicle related situations every now and then.

In today’s world of multitasking, everybody is bound to prioritize their chores. And when that happens, one common thing that bears the brunt of this is our vehicle. Our regular services waits until the vehicle stops dead and the potential financial pinch of it makes us weep. To be fair, it isn’t always carelessness on our part. Factors like when and which services are necessary, which service provider is reliable, which is value for money, who offers pick and drop, and a lot more plays along.

Estimated size of the automobile service industry in India is $2Billion & 60% of this falls under the unorganized segment. Lack of trust & transparency, quality of service and disparity in pricing are the major issues faced by the consumer and eventually, consumers end up compromising on their vehicle’s service.

It’s strange that in this age where the world has gone digital, the entire automobile experience in India is still primitive. Be it any vehicle service related need; there is simply no one-stop solution.

A quest to find a solution to these glitches set us thinking. Given the unavailability of any such model and the tremendous gap between the demand and supply we were sure there is a huge potential for this segment. It was this thought that led to the creation of Autoyaar.com. It paved the way for four of us to create an effective system that would help anyone solve an automobile related issue at the click of a button.

How much time did it take you from conceptualization of 'your venture' to actually launching it in the market?

It took us 5 months from the stage of conceptualization to launching ourselves in the market. We started with the listing model when we launched in October, 2015.

We wanted to become the Zomato of automobile industry, but soon realized, it is not actually solving the problem that we intended to and hence tweaked the model into a marketplace for automobile servicing and relaunched in March 2016.

We are a 12 member team with 4 Co-Founders each with an experience of 6-7 years in different domains & industries, having worked with few of the best brands in the country. Together we know how to build scalable systems & processes, we know how to create a profitable business, and we know how to drive marketing strategies to get quality customers.

Co-founder 1: Name: Bharat Ostwal; Education: BE Mechatronics, MBA Marketing (FORE School of Management); Work Experience: 6 years, Azure Power; Expertise: Entrepreneurial Acumen, Business Operations.
